La Tasca doubles voucher sales with online payment processor Secure Trading

La Tasca, the UK wide Spanish tapas bar and kitchen, has consolidated its position in the casual dining arena, by introducing a bespoke online gift voucher system to its eCommerce site, with the help of Gift Voucher Solutions and Secure Trading, the UK’s leading independent payment processor.

The web solution uses Secure Trading’s reliable secure payment gateway and Gift Voucher Solutions’ software system, providing a web shop, with a Level 1 PCI DSS compliant integrated online payment system, personalised eVoucher mail tool and automated luxury printing service.

The offering incorporates monetary vouchers as well as ‘Gift Experience’ vouchers, such as Spanish Cocktail Experience and Personal Paella Chef Experience, for current customers and their friends and families.

Gift Voucher Solutions has enabled La Tasca to embrace digital media and enhance its target audience and customer experience. Secure Trading provided PCI compliant secure card processing and a highly stable platform that can process high level transactions.

Rick Houston, Area Manager for La Tasca Scotland, said: “Both Secure Trading and Gift Voucher Solutions have played a big part in La Tasca’s online presence, making it easier for the consumer to purchase goods and associate themselves with the brand. Since rolling out this offering, we have seen an instant return on investment, for both the business and the customer. Sales profits have risen by 50% and customers no longer have to go in store to purchase the vouchers, they simply purchase online and print instantly to post or email them straight away to their chosen recipient.“

Houston continues: “We chose to partner with Gift Voucher Solutions because of its immediate commitment to and efficiency in turning the project around. Integrating with Secure Trading’s payment gateway was very quick and simple, with little administration, enabling secure and compliant payments to be made by consumers online.”

Since launching the gift voucher solution, La Tasca has reaped the benefits with cost savings through reconciliation, minimising printing and labour costs. The solution is set up for future campaigns, as the company looks to run different experiences through seasonable holidays. Transaction completion time is also much more efficient.

The success of the project has outgrown La Tasca’s expectations, as the business sees its sales figures double via promotion on social media channels, putting it well on its way to reaching its annual targets. Dawn Anderson, Managing Director of Gift Voucher Solutions, said: “As a £5 billion revenue channel in the UK, gift vouchers are vital to many businesses. However, they are a high-risk product and it’s important that businesses and websites meet bank compliance and credit card security standards. In the current economic climate it makes good sense for businesses to sell direct, take payments direct and keep the relationship with their own customers. Gift Voucher Solutions charges a fixed annual fee for its Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) and, combined with Secure Trading’s industry leading rates, provides La Tasca with an extremely effective and affordable way of embracing technology.”

Justin Fraser, Sales and Marketing Director Europe at Secure Trading, said: “Merchants require additional authorisation from their acquiring bank to process ‘cardholder not present’ transactions for gift vouchers, because of the high risk of fraud and chargebacks. By working with Gift Voucher Solutions, we can remove that headache for merchants. We are delighted to be working in partnership to help La Tasca extend its multi-channel offering, allowing the company to further engage with its customers in a secure and reliable means.”

La Tasca also offers online gift vouchers throughout its subsidiary businesses, Fiesta Nights and La Vina. To continue its expansion in the casual dining industry, La Tasca is also looking to sell gift vouchers through other channels such as mobile and social media, as well as incorporating a retail aspect to the site.
