Gamescom 2016: Will You Be There?

Gamescom comes to Cologne this month (17th – 21st August 16) and Secure Trading will be there on Stand A-036. This is Europe’s biggest trade fair for interactive games and entertainment, open to the public to discover the latest games, and for industry players to meet and explore trends and developments in this dynamic market.

If you are planning to attend this year as a business visitor, what should you look out for? Here are our recommendations:

Plug-In Network 2016: To get Gamescom started, on the evening of Tuesday 16th August European industry players will be meeting for sales-free networking at the Dom im Stapelhaus in Cologne. The Plug-In Network is a professional networking hub for those in the payments, gaming and app industry. Secure Trading are sponsoring this event, you can register to attend here.

Gamescom Business Area: The business area is where trade visitors can network exclusively with others from the industry. Here you will find many insiders, dealers, publishers, and the Secure Trading stand in Hall 2:1. If you would like to book a meeting with one of our Secure Trading team, fill in this form and we will get a date in the diary.

Matchmaking365: If you haven’t yet explored the potential of this tool, it’s worth taking a look today. This can help you reach people you want to meet, and get help and support from the European gaming community. Simply complete the form here, specify your target audience and wait for replies and new business opportunities to unfold.

Entertainment Halls: If you visit on Wednesday 17th August trade visitors will have the run of the entertainment halls before the fair opens to the general public. While this presents plenty of opportunities to discuss business and make connections, it’s also a chance to let your inner-gamer out and enjoy being a participant instead.

Gamescom Congress: On a more serious note, the Gamescom Congress on Thursday 18th August includes an impressive line up of speakers from across the industry, this year with a focus on the following key areas:

  • Knowledge: Better Research, Better Care
  • Business: New Routines, New Opportunities
  • Apits: The Computer Game As A Multifunction Tool
  • Legal: A Plea On Behalf Of Fun
  • Life: Finally Arrived? Games And The Middle Of Society

Here at Secure Trading we are particularly interested in the growth of eSports and therefore the presentation about teaching eSports in schools, by head teacher Andreas Eriksson, is on our agenda. As is ‘eSports: The Next Big Thing’, which we have blogged about previously. You may be interested in this post – eSports: The Future Of The Gaming Industry – from our blog.

We hope to see you at Gamescom 2016, if you would like to request a meeting with one of our team, you can book an appointment here.
